Disco Challenge

Afros and bellbottoms, rollerskates and butterfly collars… caaaaan yoouuuuuuuu dig iiiiiiiit?!

Since we started working on things for season 5 back in 2009 we knew that the producers wanted to do a Disco episode.  We consulted with everyone and along with Napoleon and Tabitha submitted what we thought would be some good songs to not only shake your groove thing to but would make good master mixes. While MTV loves to give their “suggestions” there were some songs that just weren’t gonna make the cut but some that we all agreed were perfect.  With many a long night spent at the studio making the beats, recording vocals, adding those specific touches for each crew and along with the creativity of the choreographers and dancers this episode turned out to be one of the best of the season.

Attention Dancers – pro and amateur!!

What’s up people! Our good friend Michelle McNulty is working with the CW network on a special show called “One Mass Dance” that is raising money for a local charity through a huge dance performance. You’ll have the chance to meet and work with world-renowned choreographer Travis Payne, who has worked with some of the world’s top talent, not the least of which being Michael Jackson for “This Is It”. It takes place on Sunday, March 14th in the Los Angeles area (Culver City to be precise), so if you are a talented dancer/choreographer in the area or just want to be part of an amazing experience, don’t miss this opportunity!

You can learn more about it by clicking here.

This is a once in a lifetime event, so if you can get involved, we here at D78 strongly encourage it!

Participants merely need to show up, but those who are serious professional dancers/choreographers and are interested in assisting Travis should contact Michelle McNulty by email at michelle@mcnultycasting.com to schedule an audition. Auditions take place on Tuesday March 9th at the Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park. The address follows:

21622 Sherman Way, Canoga Park, CA

Music Video Challenge

You might have noticed that this week’s mixes were shorter than usual. Well, that’s for a couple of reasons. For one, we have a lot of crews on stage and only an hour to see them all! But this was also music video week, where the most important thing is the music video – it’s really the video and the matching choreography are the centerpiece.

New D78 F.A.Q. Page!

“One ring to rule them all…”

Ok, maybe not.  But if you’re dying to know if we’ll ever upload your favorite mix or release a full version of an original song you can’t get out of your head… you’ll find the answers to those and many other questions here! (There’s also a new “D78 F.A.Q.” button in our site navigation at the top of the page.)

If you don’t see your question there, please leave it as a comment here and we may eventually add it to our FAQ.

So You Think You Can Dance Mixes

Here are the mixes we did for last season of SYTYCD. Not sure if all of these made the show, but if we could find video of it online, you’ll see it below.
