ABDC Season 5 Episode 5 Master Mixes
Music Video Challenge
You might have noticed that this week’s mixes were shorter than usual. Well, that’s for a couple of reasons. For one, we have a lot of crews on stage and only an hour to see them all! But this was also music video week, where the most important thing is the music video – it’s really the video and the matching choreography are the centerpiece.
Blueprint Cru
This week Blueprint Cru had the honor (or the challenge, depending on your perspective) of performing to Omarion’s “I Get It In”. While you gotta admire Derek’s dedication to perfecting the Omarion look, it was a rough week for them – so let’s hope they pull it together in the next week.

Heavy Impact
We always love what these guys bring to the stage. It was a challenge giving them the heavy beats they thrive on while maintaining the integrity of “What You Got” by Colby O’Donis. But we got it working and these guys made us look good… again.

Hype 5-0
Well, what can we really say? Knowing the guys outnumber the girls in this crew by 2:1, we tried to inject a little testosterone into “3” by Britney Spears. But the guys did great, holding it down and showcasing the ladies – and the ending of the routine… well… we think everyone can appreciate that.

Jungle Boogie
Jungle Boogie wanted to go into uncharted waters this week with a stepping routine. Only a couple of them were experts at it, so we were relieved to see it all come together. We recorded them doing it at their rehearsal and put their chant into the mix. After we put it all together, they wanted the stepping part sped up 20 bpm (beats per minute) faster than Shakira’s “Give It Up To Me”, crazy but they seemed to pull it off. Also fun was creating what they referred to as a “Lycan (a la Underworld) Roar” for the end of the routine.

Poreotix
This was a real challenge for us this week, because Rihanna’s “Umbrella” is structured in a way that it’s hard to fit in everything you want from it in only 45 seconds. But with the rain and thunder motif, we figured it out. Rough reviews for them this week, but we’re sure they’ll step it up in the coming weeks.

Royal Flush
We didn’t really know much about Cascada when we started this mix, but we learned a lot about them – and Natalie Horler in particular. And by “learned about”, we really mean that Furious started making wedding plans. If anyone knows her, holla at ya boys. Less fortunate was poor Royal Flush, who just didn’t have what it took this week.

Saltare
I guess you could say it was bound to happen, but it was still upsetting to see them falter this week. Metro Station’s “Shake It” was a song that had been kicking around in our camp for a while. It lived a previous life as a never-to-be-seen mix intended for Dynamic Edition, later to be replaced by “Shake That” by Eminem and Nate Dogg.

Static Noyze
Always fun to watch, Static Noyze didn’t disappoint this week. And “New In Town” by Little Boots was a fun mix to work on. Keen eyed observers will be able to pick out Isaac from Heavy Impact in the video!

man the other umbrella mix that you put up awhile back was so much sicker and i think poreotix wouldve performed better to that one but yea..still respect your work!
I only love Pro, Royal, BluePrint and Hype performance!
I love Poreotics >.< ! xD but they need to show more about they ARE THE BEST DANCE CREW of this season ^^ Thanks for the mixes ^^
Poreotix need to stick to their guns. So what if the judges don’t like their style? I DO, and the voter’s opinion trumps the judges any day, period.
Loved Hype 5.0, though! That ending came from outta nowhere!
I still wish I could have seen Dynamic Edition dance to Shake It. The song sounds like it would have fit them so well. ;-;
next week is lady gaga challenge
Great mixes.. I just didn’t enjoy the challenge altogether that much.
